I have served in a variety of ministry settings and am currently discerning a growing call to pastoring in a bivocational model. However, the truth is that I have a love/hate relationship with the church. I have been a witness to wonderful feats of faith and love as well as acts of great hate and destruction. When I think of the church I am drawn to the proverbial quote often attributed to Augustine, “The church is a whore but she is also my mother.” It is that tension that drives me to continue in my service of ministry to the bride of Christ.
